Joseph is ONE!!!!

Wow, where does the time go. I've been meaning to write this post before you actually turned one, but time has once again slipped thru my fingers. This past year has gone by soo fast, it started with your birthday November 19, 2010. You were a stubborn boy, you wanted to stay nice and cozy in my tummy. It took two tries with pitocin to induce my labor. Once I started to push it was almost an hour before we heard that vigorous cry and the chance to hold you on my stomach for the first time. Our family was complete the moment we held you in our arms.

Watching your sister. So intensely watching her every move.

Christmas 2010

6 months old

By time you turned one, you were weighin' in the same 26-27 pounds since 6 months of age. You have grown taller and have been able to whittle down some of those famous rolls. You have managed to cruise around doing the army crawl. When I mean cruise, I mean you have the it down pat. One minute you are in kitchen, next you're crossing over the bathroom threshold across the living room.

Food wise, you love your meat, potatoes(sweet or not,) & fruits. You're not much of a veggie lover. I keep trying & you keep spitting them out. The only ones you will eat are very glazed carrots & any type of squash.

Fourth of July

1st camping trip

Vocally, you say a few words. Mama, Dada, Ada, & Nooooo. But this does not stop you from voicing your opinion.

"Am I suppose to eat the cake?"
Joe's 1st birthday cake.

Overall, Joseph you are a pretty mellow kid. Let's hope that you stay mellow at least thru the toddler, preshool, school-age, teenage......I can a only hope I guess.

We love very much Big Joe!! I look forward to seeing you explore and discover new things.

This post was started in December. OOPS Sorry Joseph.

Look Who's 3!

I can not believe my little wonder is three today. You have turned into such a big girl.

Only 1 month old

1 year old

2 years old

3 years old

You have a mind of your own, which runs about a mile a minute. You are constantly talking, at times, not even pausing when you switch subjects. Just like your father, so I’ve been told by your grandparents, aunts & uncles. Your father is very proud of you. You say such the cutest & darnest things ever. It’s soo hard to stay mad at the naughty things you do. Trust me when I say, you have tested our patience with your little attics.

So what are you up to these days? We are proud to say, you are potty trained!!!!!! We feel you did a great job and didn’t take long for you to get the idea down.

You still love to have books read to you. You like to color with paints & markers(washable, of course.) You love playing in your kitchen and helping Mom & Dad with the cooking or making Joe’s food. You are a pro with the alphabet & song and the numbers 0-20. You still love music, especially when Daddy sings to you. You can dance anywhere there is music, including the grocery store. “Twirl me Mommy.” We are switching between Strawberry Shortcake, My Little Pony, Tinkerbell, Tangled and other Princess-type movie/show. When it comes to playing with other kids, you always refer them as “your kids.” It that cute or what?!?

You’re a great big sister. You comfort Joe when he is crying by singing to him. You still like to tackle him, even if you been told a hundred times not to sit on your brother. And I’m sure it will not be the last time you do.

Adalyn & Joseph 2011

One new thing of recently is, you like to change your clothes and often throughout the day. You could go through 4 outfits and we have not had lunch yet. Your nighttime routine has changed, instead of going to sleep in your bed, you basically fall asleep in one of our laps, then we put you in your bed. And 99% of time, you end up in Mommy & Daddy’s bed before the morning sun comes up. We allow it for now, knowing that this phase does not last forever.

We love soaking up every moment we get to have with you, Adalyn. We love seeing you change everyday, discovering new things & figuring out the challenges you face everyday. We look forward to seeing you transform into the great person you will become little by little everyday.

We love you Adalyn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Flashback Friday

To start this weekend's celebration early, here are some 4th of July Parade memories from the early 80's.

My hometown had a parade that went down main street, turned around and came back up main street. So, if you missed it the first time, you can catch it on the way back.

A nearby town being represented.

HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A FUN & SAFE HOLIDAY WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mommy and Me Monday

We had to make an ER visit on Friday. Addy decided to give us a scare. She might have swallowed some 500mg Tylenol. After a four hour wait for a blood test result, she did not swallow any pills. Except for the poke, I think Addy had fun. She got lots of attention, got to run around the lobby and eat some her favorite treats while we waited.

Rewind

Here's the rewind......

For Father's day, we had Joe's 6 month photos done at a local park. I've seen a preview, and I cannot wait for the rest. Our photographer does an amazing job. We also went out to dinner to Ava's ( a local restaurant.) That was pretty much it. I had to work the overnight shift and needed some sleep after the photo shoot.

Father's Day 2011

Joe's all set for the 4th of July parade. He learned to clap his hands this week. YEAH!!! He likes to do it when we're trying to feed him.

He also graduated to a big boy car seat. He just got too big and heavy to carry in the infant seat. I think he likes his new digs. He can see more out the window now.

Big boy at the grocery store. He kept looking up at the lights in the ceiling.

We had a little scare on Friday with Adalyn. She was watching Ice Age in the living room and I was getting the diaper bag ready for her & Joe's visit to my Aunt's house on Saturday. I returned to the living room after being out of her sight for about 3 minutes. She saw me and quickly shoved what looked to be something small & white. I asked what she had, she just kept her mouth shut. I pretty much forced my fingers into a two year's full mouth of teeth. Risky, knowing she has bitten me before. But not knowing what she had in there, I had to take the risk. What did I find? Unknown pills. Pills! Where on earth did she find these? She also had a small pill box of Matt's in her lap. I got one full tablet and one that was broken. I did not recognize them. They were none of mine, none of Matt's. What were they? I call Matt, he did an Internet search of the numbers on the tablets. There were Tylenol 500mg. But, did she take any more? More could definitely fit the box. But I only could find the two in her mouth. Matt could not remember how many there were and when the last time he saw that pill box. So make this long story shorter: Call Nurse line, then poison control, then off to the ER, waited fours to have a drug level done. To find out she did not ingest any pills. Thank the Lord!

On a lighter side, Adalyn did the funniest thing this afternoon. I was weeding my garden and Matt was mowing the grass, Addy decided she was going to imitate her daddy. She ran over to the shed and as she ran she was in the process of pulling down her shorts. Can you see where this is leading? She was saying "I have to pee." So she tried to pee standing up. Yep, she figured if Daddy can do it, so could she. Right?

Well, that's the rewind. Not much this past week.

Until next time....

Rewind

I know it's been over a month since my last entry. So here's the last month's highlights.

I got to spend this year's Mother's Day, potty training Adalyn. We decided since Matt had the following Monday & Tuesday off, if would a great opportunity to tackle this project. I read several blogs & online parenting site about potty training and choose to try the 3 Day Potty Training method. Overall, this method did work. It did take us more than 3 days (4.5days) for Addy to be officially potty trained. We crammed all the messy work of potty training into less than a week. She even does an awesome job when we are out & about. We are still to this day, not night trained. I feel in time, she will get the night portion down.

The only pic we have of Addy "training."

Mother's Day 2011

Addy also had her first dentist appointment. She did great. She let the dental hygienist count her teeth, brush a few of them with her magic toothbrush and paint them with the fluoride protection soln. She even let the dentist look at her teeth too. She was sooo proud of herself. She still, to this day, brings up the dentist visit.

Joseph turned 6 months on May 19th. He weighed in a whopping 21 lbs 12 oz. He was almost 22 POUNDS! He is one big guy. Big Joe is his name.

May 19, 2011
6 Months

Joe is rolling everywhere and can sit by himself for a few seconds at a time. He's got a lot of those cute baby rolls to manage. This week, he's even starting to push himself backwards. Putting his cute butt in the air, then push with his arms.

Started to feed him solids after he turned 6 months. But he still was having the anti-gagging tongue reflex going on. Our pediatrician stated by 7 months this should go away. Therefore, we were only trying rice cereal every so often, until we noticed the tongue reflex was mostly gone. That happened last week. Yeah! Now we can move on to different foods. He's tried green beans and sweet potatoes. With both, he's not too sure about them. Making those cute little faces that say, "Really, you're going to feed me this?" When he tried the sweet potato, he literately was gagging on them. He should love sweet potatoes, I ate them constantly while pregnant with him.

He had his last helmet adjustment appointment last week. We found out that he's done with his helmet. His head looks great. He ended only needing to wear it for about 9 weeks. Three weeks less than initial planned. HOORAY!

Plus, we noticed that Joe is cutting his right side bottom tooth last week too. This means that we have been getting up more often thru the nite due to the newly chopper. Now he can show his big sister how it feels to have ones fingers in the other's mouth. Adalyn is notorious for biting her little brother.

The weather around here finally warmed up. Got my flowers planted and the garden weeded (those darn dandelions were everywhere.) Addy even helped in her own special way. She loves to pick the flowers, weed one and non-weeds.

Finally got to use the pool, kiddie pool that is.

Then on a side note, at my place of employment, management finally closed our old home. It was a sad day. We will love the newest of our new home, but it will take awhile to adjust the merging of the two units. Lots of blending will take place with the new faces on board.

This is view from room 24 where I had the opportunity to meet many brave and wonderful children & their families.

That's it for now.

We are getting Joseph's 6 month pics done this weekend.

Have a Great Father's Day!!!!

Wordless Wednesday

Yep, that's my 2 1/2 year old.
