Flashback Friday

Me and my siblings (Brad & Erica)

1979

We had just gotten Addy a tricycle from my brother. It's a tad big for her, but we're going to try and make it work. She asked for a helmet from the Easter Bunny. Let's hope the little bunny heard her request. ;)

Have a great holiday weekend!

THE ZOO

Last week Matt only had to work a half day. That meant zootime! Thank goodness the weather cooperated. Addy had a blast. She loved the sea lions (Olivia inspired?) She wasn't sure about the lions, tigers and monkeys. A gorilla & orangutan were sitting up against the glass. Too close for her comfort apparently.

Addy getting tired of all the pics. "I want to go see the monkeys."

Due the cool temps, not all of the animals were out yet. We have already planned another visit this summer.

REWIND

Here's the rewind of the last month......

I went back to work. It was like I never left. Well, mostly. The patient care has not changed, but the organization itself is changing. That's what healthcare is all about, right. Constant change. My unit has a new manger, and we as a unit are leaving our beloved small floor behind in the next couple months. We are merging with another unit, therefore, some reorganization had to take place. I and many other nurses from the two units had to rebid for positions on this new "unit." Some great & talented & caring nurses had to either to take a partial or complete layoff or go to another unit within the hospital. I was very fortunate to retain my current schedule. It will be an interesting summer & next fall.

Joe had his 4 month check up. He weighed in at 18.8 pounds! Joe has definitely earned his nickname. He's right on step with his milestones. He started to roll over both from stomach to back and back to stomach. Granted it's not every time he's on tummy time duty, but I'll give him the credit for achieving this milestone. Way to go Mr. Chubbs! Although he does need help with the shape of his skull. When he was born, we noticed that the right side of his forehead was larger than the left. We tried to lay him on his left side when he slept, it helped a little. But has he grew, so did a flat spot (also known as plagiocephaly) on his back right side of the head. Next stop, the Craniofacial clinic. They determined he had a mild case of right torticollis and that he would benefit from some physical therapy and wearing a cranial cap for about 3 months. We had PT out for an eval-she felt he didn't need therapy. Yeah! Then the helmet came in. After several adjustments, he is on his way to wearing it 23 hours a day. I'm already at the point when the helmet is off, he looks so different.

We also had Joesph baptised last month. He did great. Not a peep from him when the deacon poured the holy water over his forehead. Matt's 3 sisters & brother are Joe's Godparents. I have a running joke, that if Joe is anything like his father, he will need all the help he can get, therefore there is a need for the 3 sisters to be his Godmothers. :)

As usual, Addy getting everyone's attention. :)

So those were the highlights of the last two months.

Until next time.......

Flashback Friday

Today would have been my mother's 58th birthday. Sadly she past away 8 years ago. I miss her everyday, especially when I look at my children. They will never be able hear her voice or sense her soft touch.
This photo was taken at her Aunt Jan's. She loved horses, yet she was allergic to them. That was one of reasons she had to part with her horse. As you can tell, she was having a fabulous time riding. I imagine her riding a horse everyday in heaven.
Happy Birthday Mom
Love you always,
Jenny

Mommy & Me Monday

This past weekend we went to Grandma's surprise birthday/retirement party. Addy has been "practicing" taking pictures with our camera. She took many at the party and actually got a few good ones. Mostly the pics were of the table, dirty dishes and her fingers. She was trying get one of baby Joe when I was changing him. So, this is the only photo from this weekend with me in it. Sorry that it's only my backside of my head. But she did get Joe.

Good job Addy!

3 months already

It's been 3 months already.
These past several months have gone by fast. You have already changed so much. I remember bringing you home, how small you were compared to today.
You have to weigh at least 15 pounds by now. ( You were just under 13lbs at your 2 month check up.)
You smile everytime your eyes get a glimpse of Mommy and Daddy. You are entrance when your big sister talks to you. And you smile the instance Addy smiles.
You love to be held and snuggle right under Daddy's chin. When there is no bottle in your mouth, you are either talking or have your hands shoved in. Sometimes it can be both. I think I'm in big trouble down the road. ;)
You just started to sleep 5-6 hours at a time during the night. Yeah!
I have loved having these past 3 months being home with you and your sister full time.
I look forward the coming hours, days, weeks, months & years of watching you grow.
I love you Mr. Chubbs!
