The Rewind

Here’s this week’s rewind….

The week started out with a visit to the OB office. The baby is growing great. He’s around 4.2 lbs and is in the 62% growth chart. So I figure he’s going to be about 8lbs at birth (which is now only 7-8 weeks away.) His kidneys are just fine and he’s in the breech position. But we have time for him move into the right position before the big day.

After seeing Addy’s baby brother, we headed to another apple orchard. This time we scored! We got to walk the orchard and pick our own apples. It was a beautiful sunny day for it. Addy picked her own apple and chopped on it as we walked & down the rows of apple tress. This orchard didn’t have as many animals as the last, but we did get to feed some goats and see a pair of bunnies. I bought 2 big bags of seconds for applesauce.

Ended up getting my sis-law’s grinder & juicer attachment for my mixer. Boy, that was a smart move. It was slick, all I had to do was cut the apples in quarters, boil them until they were mushy, then feed the apples into the contraption. Presto-instance applesauce. THANK YOU Suzanne! That would be a nice Birthday/Christmas gift??? I got 11 quarts of sauce out of those 2 bags. I hope that will last us through the winter. Probably not. Maybe I should get more apples?

Adalyn has started the What's that phrase. So it's been a constance "What's That? What's That?"

Also this week was Adalyn’s 2nd birthday. We had kielbasa (one of her favs) and a Smiley Face carrot cake. I didn’t do such a good job on layer the cakes, as you tell from the pic. The top layer broke apart due to not having a level layer. It did taste good. Plus I had another chance to make it right, read further. For her birthday gift we gave her the kitchen set, and then some accessories for it. She got some washcloths, kitchen towels, oven mitt, apron, a rolling pin, salt & pepper shakers, and some pans.

On Sunday we had Addy’s official birthday party with family members. She got to play with cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. As Addy opened her gifts, she would say “surprise” as she was pulling out tissue paper. Then she helped in getting the Birthday Song going, "Ready, Set, GO” she yelled. Then everyone sang Happy Birthday to her. At the end she clapped her hands and yelled “YEAH!" She had everyone roaring with laughter, We enjoyed another Smiley Face carrot cake and ice cream.

Round Two

What a nice way to end the week. Until next week………

Adalyn turns TWO!!!!

Two years ago you came into our lives and changed it forever. You have grown soo fast, that I find myself cherishing every moment and looking forward to the future moments. For I know that they will get better with each pasting memory.

The day you were born.

Two years old.

WOW! Look how you have grown.

What has the past year look liked? You started walking a little over a month past your first birthday. You’ve become very vocal, to the point that you amaze every single person you meet with your language skills. You know the alphabet letters, yet still needs work on singing the song. You can recognize numbers and count to 10, yet there are times you miss a number or two. You know your colors and shapes, I think your favorite is the semicircle. For when we see the half moon, you point & say “Moon. It’s a semicircle” You love to listen to music & dance, Caillou & Sesames Street are the fav programs to watch. I guess I should include Scooby-Do in that list. You like to go swimming at the beach and with Lindsay at the Y. This also means you love bath time. You have become a somewhat picky eater or maybe I should say if you don’t feel like eating it today, doesn’t mean you will not eat tomorrow. For your bedtime routine, you like to have your blanket wrapped around you form the back, wind up your two matchboxes. Help wind up the Angel music box that Aunt Sherry gave you, then give her a kiss, followed by mommy then daddy. Then daddy sings a few songs before the lights go out.

Well, this a short version of what has been happened over the last year with you. I can only imagine this next year will bring more joy towards our lives with you, as you continue to amaze us. I love you!!!!!

Rewind

Here's the Rewind.....

This week we visited an apple orchard. Unfortunately, we were unable to pick our own apples due to the bad weather the orchard experienced early in the season. There was a late frost on Mother's day and then they had hail in June. So about 80% of the crop was destroyed.

So we just walked down to some of the apple trees, and found three apples that were edible, feed some chickens & turkeys, pet a donkey & some goats, then pick a couple of mums. We did get to buy a couple bags of apples, a jug of cider and a bottle of homemade honey.

Off to find some apples

I can pull the wagon myself.

Wait for me Daddy

YUM!

I think we will try another orchard next week. I really want to make a boat load of applesauce for the winter.

Addy did get another chance at different orchard with her nanny, yet it was an orchard were you cannot pick your own. So she got to see some more animals and try apple crisp.

Starting this past week after dinner, Addy likes to read her books or have them read to her. So she piles up books from her room and attempts to bring them into the living room. Yet, on her way out, she drops the books and starts to cry. Now, it not that she trying to carry a couple or a few books, these are stacks of 5+ books she tries to bring to us.

She also is starting to say "Give me.....Give me..." to what you have and she would like that item. Oh, the fun has begun with the almost 2 year old behavior. But I've heard that the 3 year old's behavior is worst. We will have wait & see. :)

Until next week....

Wordless Wednesday

Not totally wordless this week.

Addy likes it when we vacuum. She gets to ride the canister.

She is using her golf club as a vacuum,

Daddy wanted proof that he does indeed help with the indoor chores.

Here you go sweetie:

Not sure what Addy is sad/upset about in this pic.

Rewind

Here's this week's rewind.....
I started working on the baby's room this week, decided to go with a baseball theme. Painted the top half the wall a dark blue. See:

Next I'll paint the bottom half a tan color. The hubby likes that these are the colors of the his beloved team the Brewers. But I'm hoping to add red accents to the room. This will then add some Twins flavor to the room. I'll give you a sneak peak of a project I'm working on for his room:

Now you know the name we have decided to call the new Little bundle of joy.
I'm just hoping this project will turn out as I envision it my little head.

We also got the baby's tree planted this week. We went with an Emerald Lustre Maple. It will turn a nice red in the fall. We planted a tree for Adalyn when she was born, it is a Northwoods Maple. It gets yellow leaves in the fall. Yet this year the tree was a little stressed out and has already turned & dropped it's leaves. Someone (yes, it was yours truly) had put pine needles around the tree for mulch. I guess they do not like the acidic soil the needles create. OOPS.

The Emerald Lustre

Well, that's it folks. Until next time.....
